Watershed, by Ranae Lenor Hanson – Coming May 11th, 2021

Pre-order – UMNPress

“We need Watershed now. There’s no book like it. It’s as clear-eyed and immersive as the northern Minnesota waters that birthed it. It’s the story for our time, and just in the nick of time. With courage and tenderness Ranae Hanson pulls back the curtain to show us that the harm we have wrought on the world is no longer a future problem to be solved. It is here now in our bodies as much as in our watersheds and forests—and in the beloved homelands of her immigrant-refuge students whose voices and stories pierce any doubt, any ill-founded hope that all will be well.”
—Eric Utne, founder, Utne Reader

Watershed: Attending to Body and Earth in Distress will be published by the University of Minnesota Press May 11th, 2021.

Upcoming Events

Community Pollinators Speaker Series – Friday, 4/23 – 1-2pm CT

On Friday, April 23, 1:00–2:00 pm CT, Watershed and Ranae will be featured in Minneapolis College’s Community Pollinators speaker series together with Marie Harris and Derartu Berhanu, former students – now friends – whose stories appear in the book. We will consider ways we can address environmental injustice, deal with our own communities’ climate crises and health challenges, and do better justice to the non-human residents of our ecosystems.

You will be able to submit your comments and questions in the Q&A; responses will also be very welcome here. A YouTube recording will be available about a week after the session at this link.
